Getting to Sierra Nevada smoothly is the first step to a great day on snow. The resort is about 30 kilometres from Granada and, although access is straightforward, it helps to know what to expect so you do not waste time or miss your lesson.
By car: the most flexible option
From Granada, take the A-395 towards Sierra Nevada. The drive takes around 45 minutes in normal conditions, longer on busy days or when snow affects the road. In peak season arrive with time to spare: Pradollano car parks fill up early. Carry chains or winter tyres as required by current regulations.
By bus from Granada
Regular bus services run from Granada to Pradollano (the lower resort area). It is a convenient option if you are staying in the city and prefer not to drive in the mountains. Check current timetables on the resort website or at Granada tourist office.
Transfers and private services
Many local hotels and companies offer transfers from Granada or Granada-Jaén airport. If you book a full day with Explora, we can arrange pick-up at your resort hotel on request.
From Pradollano to the ski area
Pradollano is the lower zone, with hotels, restaurants and lift pass sales at Plaza de Andalucía. To reach the slopes you need the gondola (or the lift operating that season). The lift ticket is not included in Explora lessons: you must buy your pass separately.
Explora School & Club meeting point
Once you are up, head to our official meeting point at Sierra Nevada ski resort. Find it on Google Maps by searching "Explora School & Club". Your instructor wears Explora uniform so you can spot them easily. If you are unsure on lesson day, call us at +34 660 262 790.
Tips so you are not late for your lesson
Allow at least an hour from parking in Pradollano to being at the meeting point: gondola queues, lift pass if not bought yet and equipment fitting. If it is your first time, two hours is safer. A late start reduces effective lesson time.
Where to buy your lift pass before going up
You can buy at Plaza de Andalucía (Pradollano) or on the official website sierranevada.es. Buying online in advance saves queues. Remember to pay the accident insurance fee as well, which we strongly recommend.
